Three progressive jazz groups for your listening pleasure:
The Bobby Falk Group, featuring contemporary arrangements of tunes by Coltrane, the Doobie Brothers, Wayne Shorter, Steely Dan, Duke Ellington, Stevie Wonder, George Gershwin, Ray Charles, Jobim and others;
Squeeze-Bot, just your ordinary accordion/banjo/tuba/drums jazz band, doing a little Mingus, little Monk, a gospel or two, some pop, a polka, and some bluegrass; and
The John Harden Project, an Indy based, ever evolving group whose influences range from Miles Davis to Heat Wave, from Carlos Santana to Sonny Stitt and whose music can be aggressive, edgy, calming, mellow, groovin’ and at other times swings like there is no tomorrow.
Should be a very fun night.
Tickets $6 in advance, $8 at the door
